Andy began studying Organic Horticulture in 2004 and continued learning with the RHS (Royal Horticultural Society) at the Bristol Botanic Gardens. For more than 10 years he has been designing and building gardens.
Andy holds a strong belief that our contact with nature and the natural environment enriches our lives. With this in mind he works to help the process of experiencing the potential of our outside space.
He retains a strong sense of style, keeping abreast of international garden design, and landscape architecture and strives to marry strong and exciting design with the nurturing of wildlife and the wider environment.
Andy loves to collaborate and appreciates the value of shared experience. As well as having built his own designs, he and his team has also built gardens for Louise Bastow of Gold Medal Winning Alchemy Garden Design; Margie Hoffenung Garden Design (based in the Cotswolds and formerly of the Highgrove Estate); Butter Wakefield Garden Design; Rosie Nottage Garden Design and Woodhouse and Law amongst others.
Since the summer of 2017 Andy and BlueSkyLandscapes has been a full time garden design studio, concentrating on the organisation of garden builds by first completing a plan / design, helping you find the right company to carry out the construction works and looking after the build to completion if required.
Bringing our horticultural expertise to the garden, BlueSky still carry out all the planting elements if required.
Since January 2018 Andy has also been helping Spun Gold TV make the BBC1 daytime television program Garden Rescue. As Associate Horticultural Producer Andy surveys the initial applicants gardens, interviews the potential contributors and carries out preliminary costings. Once the gardens for the show have been chosen, Andy works to organise and oversee the garden builds throughout filming.
Andy also holds a voluntary role with the Society of Garden Designers as Regional Co-Ordinator. Being responsible for the organisation of Continual Professional Development for its members in the South West and furthering the support networks and communication between designers.
Andy is a Pre-Registered member of the Society of Garden Designers.
Andy is very keen to keep developing his knowledge and interests through carrying out extensive CPD:
